Join your fellow club members for a Bike Ride on the Zim Smith Trail.
This is a free event, to provide an opportunity for fun and socializing.
Nearly every member of the Albany Ski Club owns a bike. But you hardly know who, what type of bike they ride, or where or when they like to ride. Wouldn’t it be nice to find some riding companions and make new friends with common interests? ASC is offering some opportunities to bring you together.
On Sunday July 25 ASC will host a bike riding “meet and greet” for bikers of all ages, abilities, and interests so we can get to know one another and share a great sport! We will also be doing this again on August 22 at a different location!
Sunday July 25 we will meet at Shenantaha Creek Park, Solotruck Lane off Eastline Road, Malta and bike the Zim Smith Bike Trail. At the Shenantaha park there’s also a children’s playground, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, athletic field, frisbee golf, trails to the creek and historic ruins, and public bathrooms.
The ASC pedaling “meet and greet” will be from noon ‘til 5 pm. We’ll set up a 10x10 canopy with the ASC banner as a gathering spot. When you arrive, come and say hello, update your membership data, then enjoy riding on a paved bike trail without the worries of vehicle traffic, and return to meet fellow ASC outdoor enthusiasts, all at your own leisure.
These opportunities are perfect for families, for singles, for couples, for groups of friends. And get in some great off-season exercise for those skiing legs.
Share and discover new places to ride and maybe share and learn some tips of bicycle tuning and maintenance. Become a ride leader for your favorite rides or rides you’d like to explore - its as simple as posting the location, date and time.
On both Sundays the Club will provide bottled water and hot dogs with all the fixings. (Click on the sign-up button above to help us plan for enough fixings.) You bring your bike(s), your own beverages, perhaps a dish or snack to share (nice but not necessary), and your comfortable camping chair to stay a while.
Haven't been on a bike in a while, no worries! Some of us bike slower than others and that's o.k.! Some of us have electric bikes for the extra oooomph! We welcome riders of all skill level!
Guests welcome.
