Albany Ski Club
ALBANY - NY - USA
ASC Race Team
The Albany Ski Club supports a race team for men, women, and children of all ages and abilities. The size of the team grows each year as more people find out how fun ski racing is. If you are interested in joining the ASC Race Team contact one of the ASC Officers.

Racing through the Albany Ski Club is a great family sport with kids as young as five competing and as old as 70+ (Super Vets). The size of the team grows each year as more people find out how fun ski
racing is.

All ages, abilities, and genders are encouraged to come out and give it a try. Ski racing with the Albany Ski Club is so fun that 90% of people who try it end up coming back for more. The race
courses are medium in terms of difficulty (usually held on a intermediate blue slope)... not like what you see on the TV in the World Cup. Most courses are about twice as long as your standard Nastar
course and set in a GS style (Giant Slalom).

The main avenue for the ASC's racing is the NY Capital District Ski Council Series.

The racer fee is waived for first time ASC racers... 'Try before your buy'. After your first race it is $25 per season for adults and $15 for children under 18. The racer fee is in addition to your membership fee. Lift tickets for the races are between as low as $30 per person. You get to race and ski... all in the same day for one low price. Race volunteers always ski free.

There are three other members of the NY Capital District Ski Council (Out of Control, Single Ski Club, Schenectady Ski & Wintersports Club). Each club hosts/sponsors a race and enters a team. There are
plenty of awards for each race... several age brackets, male/female, skill level, overall team, etc.

It is important to point out that ski racing is great for all ages, levels, and abilities. Albany Ski Club racing is for everyone... not just the expert/fast racers (although they have their place in the open division). Ski racing will help you become a better skier, make new friends, ski new areas, etc. Everyone races against the clock and themselves.
